Why “the cup of cold water”

A direct response to two calls in Scripture.

The foundation is a manifestation of the grace of God to humanity — a movement built on two verses that shape everything we do.

“Thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother: but thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need.”
DEUTERONOMY 15:7–8
“Whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple… he shall in no wise lose his reward.”
MATTHEW 10:42

Where it began

Oluwakemi Orphanage, Omi Adio — February 2021

We visited a home of 40 children cared for by 4 caretakers and a proprietress in Ibadan, Oyo State. We arrived with foodstuffs, sandals, drinks, and writing materials — and left having listened to 40 children talk about their dreams.

That visit became a responsibility: to help those children, and others like them, achieve everything they hope to become.
